Street Art Frankey has been making Amsterdam smile for several years with his often inconspicuous works of art that pop up all over the city and are highlighted in his image column on Saturdays in Het Parool. Good-humored Amsterdam artist Frank de Ruwe, as his birth name goes, has a mission to positively influence the street scene of our capital city.

Whether through art, street interventions or invention, Frankey combines artistic bravado with cultural sensitivity and a healthy dose of lightheartedness. Inspired by both childhood memories and a youthful fascination with contemporary life, his work takes many forms, but is always recognizable for its cheerful creativity and subtle touch of mischief. With more than 800 street interventions in Amsterdam and 50 permanent installations worldwide, he has indelibly shaped the landscape of the city and beyond. His creations are clever, imaginative, joyful and surprise the viewer.

In collaboration with publisher Mendo, Frankey will soon present his coffee-table book "Frankey: Positive Disruption," a fine collection of his best street interventions and art installations.
