The coffee table book "The Story of Eames Furniture" is a celebration of Eames furniture. A biography of the most influential and important pieces of furniture of our time. With more than 2,500 photographs on 800 pages, this book, consisting of two volumes in a slipcase, primarily highlights the context in which Charles and Ray Eames' furniture was created. It carefully analyzes how the design process unfolded in Eames' office and which designers and clients played key roles in it.

Thanks to the intensive and self-critical work in the team, the Eames Office was the first to succeed in translating the theoretical approaches of the Bauhaus into commercial, mass-produced design. The importance of their modern design concept can hardly be overstated today, and the success of their designs is in many cases based on the in-house development and perfecting of production processes for their furniture designs.

The Eames Studio designs have fundamentally characterized modern design. The furniture is still a bestseller and has lost none of its elegance, timeliness, freshness and quality over the decades. On the contrary, it seems that the combination of conceptual consistency, aesthetic mastery and almost scientific perseverance serves as an inspiration and role model for a younger generation of designers.

The book "The Story of Eames Furniture" was written and designed by Marilyn Neuhart along with her husband John. Since the 1950s, the two have worked in various capacities at the Eames office, cared for the home of Charles and Ray Eames after their deaths and for the Eames archives. Marilyn Neuhart is familiar with the subject like no other and has spent the past 15 years collecting and writing down the stories, photos and memories.
